Moore Stephens North America Announces Winners of Inaugural MSNA Awards

Minneapolis, MN – Moore Stephens North America (MSNA) has introduced the MSNA Awards program to acknowledge significant contributions to the advancement of the organization. The winners were announced Thursday at the MSNA Spring Conference, held at The Langham hotel in Chicago.

“Throughout the years we’ve seen collaboration turn into revenue, innovation evolve into expertise, and improvement feed growth…and we are excited for the opportunity to celebrate these successes!” said MSNA CEO Tony Szczepaniak.

The 2018 Collaboration Award had two separate recipients. Liam Collins from Armanino won Most Collaborative with a North American focus. Liam worked alongside Peterson Sullivan, providing valuable insights to help build their Cybersecurity/IT Assurance practice. The nominator at Peterson Sullivan was very appreciative of his time, knowledge and willingness to share materials, and even referred to him as an “absolute collaboration Rockstar.”

Laura Kucera from Citrin Cooperman won Most Collaborative with an International Focus. Citrin Cooperman was looking for ways to be more proactive within Moore Stephens and expose more of the firm members to the association. Laura was instrumental in creating the Citrin Cooperman International Strategy Group (CCISG), providing a single point of contact to facilitate global needs and encouraging collaboration opportunities with MSIL members. The mission of this program is to strengthen our position as a preferred provider and grant our teams the flexibility to operate simultaneously as the most local and the most global of businesses. Laura has been the driving force behind CCISG, making sure they have important topics to share with the group, developing tools group members can use, working with member firms to give them access to tools they use at Citrin Cooperman, and offering training of value to group participants.

The 2018 Improvement Award was presented to Chris Walker from Peterson Sullivan. In the three years since she was onboarded as Marketing Director, Chris has set into motion a plan for creating a sustainable scalable and integrated business development program, helping Peterson Sullivan achieve their business development revenue goals. Chris has also been nationally recognized for her expertise in building successful, integrated marketing and business development programs. In 2016-2017 Peterson Sullivan achieved the new business development revenue goals for the firm – to the dollar. 2018 marks year 3 of this program rollout and they are starting off at a record pace! As of March 30, they have landed $1.5M of new business – a firm best!

One of the newest members of MSNA, Lurie LLP, was given the 2018 Innovation Award for their efforts to integrate innovation across their entire firm. The initiatives implemented at Lurie have engaged employees in building the future of the firm. They’ve stopped recording admin time, focusing on real client service results, implemented a Build Your Own Bonus Program, encouraged real time feedback, and developed programs to train and retain top talent. To approach time off, they launched their Rejuvenate & Refresh (R&R) program. This approach has a minimum and maximum allotted time off, encouraging employees to use time to take care of themselves or a family member, childcare, eldercare or just to rejuvenate and refresh. This is meant to ensure all Lurie employees are taking enough time off to take care of themselves and their families.

“Our members have worked hard to implement the strategic elements of MSNA, and we are proud to give them the accolades they deserve,” said Szczepaniak.

Employees from member firms nominated individuals, teams or firms for any of the three awards: Most Collaborative, Most Innovative, Most Improved. Entries were reviewed, and winners selected by the MSNA Executive Office.
